There is little you can write about a Parts Manual - or so I thought. I was very wrong. I take my hat offto Richard Liggitt of XKEBooks.com, who has navigated a positive minefield to produce not only a very comprehensive Parts Manual for the Series II cars but also an incredibly useful accompanying CD.
Firstly, Jaguar never produced a proper manual for the SII cars at the time. They published a selection of Interim Parts Lists and these were intended to supplement the Series 1 4.2 manual. In 1975 they produced a so-called SII manual but this was incomplete to say the least. In his accompanying notes, Richard explains the whole complicated saga.
So now, owners of SII cars have a comprehensive parts manual for the first time and I would say this is a must. Parts manuals are incredibly useful in so many ways, both the listings and the exploded illustrations. However, there is more. As well as the conventional printed version, Richard includes a CD which has a PDF version of the manual and over 600 photos of original cars, illustrating such things as cooling hoses, decals, switches, gauges and so on. A great piece of work for the benefit of fellow enthusiasts, and particularly those with N American spec cars. Highly recommended.
